Leading with Grace and Power

In the book of Acts, when the apostles began to look for men to appoint to lead the local church, the scriptures say they looked for men who were full of grace and power.  I’ve always taken great encouragement from this.  Whether I feel it or not, God has called me to lead, so I know I am filled with His grace and power to do so.  He has equipped me. So it’s my job as an equipped and called leader to lead well.

When I think of leading well, it all starts with me.

How do I lead myself?  I want to be a faithful worship leader everyday, not just on Sundays. I try to remind myself that people will hear me sing songs one or two days a week but God hears the song of my heart all week long.  I need to ask the Lord to empower my faithfulness and to give me grace when I fail.

Anyone who has lead worship for an extended period of time can attest to the fact that there are times they have lead on an “empty tank.” This is no fun, but God in His grace still allows us to lead with success.

These are the times I must remind myself that I have been given grace and power.  The Holy Spirit is always so faithful to be there with me on Sundays, but I must remember He is also there with me on Tuesdays as I plan my set list or on Mondays as I enjoy a quiet moment of down-time with Him.

My reliance on Him, coupled with a heart of faithfulness, will lead to supernatural encounters that I need in my planning, in my daily tasks and in my worship leading.

I pray that He would fill you and me with His faithfulness and that we would lead with His grace and power.
