Are you ever so weary you simply feel like giving up? This feeling might be caused by stress, loss of a friend or relative, working toward a goal that does not come to pass, financial need, career change, a family situation – the list can go on and on.
When I find myself with feelings beyond my control, I realize there is absolutely nothing I can do but depend on God and wait. While it’s not a comfortable situation, there a a few things we can do to keep our chins up as we wait on God and His plan.
- Keep a positive attitude. Look for the good in every situation. While we may miss a meal or a paycheck, remind yourself there are many in the world with no meals coming and no paycheck.
- Surround yourself with positive people and situations. Stay active and do therapeutic things – go to a movie or lunch with a friend, cook a meal for somebody that needs encouragement, do some volunteer work. Finding yourself in a healthy, contributing situation will raise the spirit.
- Above all, depend on the Lord for His plan and timing. Keep yourself immersed in the Word and its promises.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9
God has a bountiful crop for us if we will wait for the harvest season. We plant, cultivate, water, pray… and wait. Don’t give up.
