Are you in a rut?
One of the most difficult things I’ve dealt with when it comes to leading a choir or worship is the fight against the status quo. It’s much easier to pick a tune the choir already knows or something the congregation has been singing for years. Nothing wrong with choosing familiar songs except when it becomes the norm and replaces keeping our music ministry alive and vibrant. As we discussed last week, prayer is also a key ingredient to a thriving community of worshipers. Our role as worship leaders and choir directors is not just about waving our arms or choosing the songs, it’s also pushing past the temptation to become lethargic. That’s in our personal life and with those in the ministry we lead.
I hear this so often from choir directors: “Regi, I’m just in a rut and I’m not sure how to get out of it.” If that’s you, I encourage you to make a plan and find your way to something fresh. New.
