The Priority Of Worship

Jesus says that the Father is seeking true worshipers. What a compelling word! So much is said about seeking God but Jesus talks about a heavenly search for people who have discovered the primal power of worship.

The lack of prayer among Christians may not be so much an issue of disobedience as it is a matter of vision. And occasionally we need to be reminded of the supernatural possibilities that lie at the feet of Jesus: the breakthrough out of dismal discouragements – the release from financial despair – healing of chronic soul sickness – answers to unresolved conflict.

Jesus taught us how to approach the Father. “Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done.” Listen to the language of prayer before the petitions are offered. All are statements of worship. Words that acquiesce to His sovereignty. Words of submission and compliance.

“On earth as it is in heaven.” What is happening in heaven? Worship! Those surrounding the throne are perpetually falling down before Him, casting their crowns before Him and saying, “You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created.” (Revelation 4:10-11)

We live in a noisy world with many, many voices. There are times when you need to turn off the TV, the DVD, the CD and every other distraction. And get into personal worship. Take your Bible, a notebook and pen. Find a quiet place for a few hours. Read, worship, bow and listen. Take your life bit by bit; offer your present and your future to Him, your concerns, and your hopes. He will pour out so much information and inspiration that you will not be able to contain it. Worship puts you onto solid ground. It insures a secure place and opens the door for direction and understanding.

Make worship your priority.
