Labor Day

I’ve always thought it interesting that many people are off work on Labor Day. First nationally recognized in 1894, it is a holiday observed on the first Monday in September in celebration of the economic and social contributions of workers.

As Christian workers, we never really have a day off. Jesus gave us specific instructions to evangelize the world, and we should take every opportunity to spread the Gospel.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
- Matthew 28: 18-20

I hope you’ve had some time to rest the past few days and that you were surrounded by those you love and that love you. Even in times when we have a day off, we remain in fellowship with God and can reach out to those around us sharing the goodness of God. It is a blessing to be able to keep “working” for the Lord, even on a holiday.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”
- Galatians 6: 9-10

May you have a blessed week, starting off with a rested and renewed soul and spirit.
