Merry Christmas!
Last year, we released our new Christmas musicals in July and folks kept telling us that wasn’t early enough! So this year, we’re releasing them before the first day of Summer. Here we go!
In addition to a number of new individual choir anthems, kids pieces, and instrumental selections, Discover Worship is honored to present the following EXCLUSIVE musicals for 2016:
CHRIST HAS COME: An Advent Celebration featuring the Arrangements of Phillip Keveren
There are few arrangers who combine artistry and accessibility like Phillip Keveren. Discover Worship has taken six of his most breathtaking Christmas pieces and combined them into a beautiful, 27-minute Advent music celebration.
Overall, you’ll find these SATB arrangements to be medium difficulty—even though they sound much more challenging. Orchestrations are available for every song, so you’ll have the opportunity to use all your instrumentalists.
A wonderful combination of original and traditional works, this program features sweeping, cinematic arrangements of “Alleluia, Christ Has Come,” “In the Bleak Midwinter,” “Blessed Savior, Son of God,” “Silent Night, Holy Night,” “The Story Never Changes,” and “Christ Has Come.”
It includes short, simple narration parts and prayers that can be handled by a single narrator or shared by multiple speakers. The segments may either be read or you can invite the congregation to read them aloud as part of the program.
If you’re searching for a beautiful, sophisticated Advent celebration, we invite you to consider “Christ Has Come.” In a word, it’s “breath-taking.”
Our second new offering for 2016 is...
SING WE NOW OF CHRISTMAS: A Festival of Carols
We set out to create an opportunity for your congregation to not only celebrate the season but also to share the Gospel. Almost everyone loves Christmas carols...so why not create a choral sing-along that presents the Good News through narration, scripture, prayer and invitation?
“Sing We Now of Christmas” does just that!
This 30-minute program includes 15 beloved carols, beautifully arranged for traditional or blended SATB choir by Russell Mauldin, Camp Kirkland, Jeff Lippencott, Hal Wright and Tom Fettke.
The arrangements are easy to medium difficulty and—for the very first time—full video accompaniment tracks are available to Unlimited Members at no extra charge! These videos will be available for viewing and download by July 1st.
Imagine performing your entire Christmas musical with sing-along lyrics and full motion video backgrounds!
There’s never been a better time to join—or upgrade—to an Annual Unlimited Membership.
Opening with “Sing We Now of Christmas,” this festival of carols has elegant yet accessible arrangements of such favorites as “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear,”
“The First Noel,” “Angels We Have Heard On High,” “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World” and many others.
The whole presentation is about 30 minutes in length, and you can extend the service length by adding a candle-lighting segment before the “Silent Night, Holy Night/Away In A Manger” medley.
Because of its length, “Sing We Now of Christmas” can serve as the musical segment of a Christmas Eve or Christmas Sunday Service, and your pastor can offer a more extensive Advent message during the remainder of the service time.
In two (well two and a half) words: it’s “choral sing-along.”
And finally, keeping with our theme of sing-along carols, we’re pleased to release...
COME AND WORSHIP: A Contemporary Christmas Carol Sing-Along (For Kids of Any Age!) [available 6/21/16]
We know that’s a mouthful; but trust us, it’s worth it!
This Christmas carol sing-along is especially for the young at heart. Translated: it rocks! Actually... it REALLY rocks!
Arranged by Dennis Allen, Paul Marino, Dave Cleveland and others, it’s simple enough for younger kids but contemporary enough for a youth choir. You can even take this out and sing it in schools or at your local retirement home. It’s that much fun!
The vocal parts are not that demanding and can be sung by a unison choir. Occasionally, the chorus breaks into 2-parts. There are also some opportunities for solos that could alternately be handled by unison choir or designated to boys/girls only.
Uncompromisingly Christ-centered, these songs and simple narration tell the real Christmas story, providing an opportunity for further testimony or even a message from your pastor.
The whole program is about 30 minutes long, so it lends itself to being a portion of a Christmas Eve or Youth Christmas service.
So, to summarize “COME AND WORSHIP: A Contemporary Christmas Carol Sing-Along (For Kids of Any Age!)” in a word: it “rocks!”
