Looking FOURward: November

OK, the holidays are on us, or as Archie Bunker once said, “once again at our throats.” It can start to feel a little crazy, right? Fortunately for you, you've planned ahead and gotten a handle on this whole thing!

Here are 4 priorities for November:

  1. This is a good time for “wood-shedding” - drilling those musical passages in your Christmas music that are causing the most difficulty. After you've mastered those places, be sure to sing or play “into” and “out of” them.
  2. Create a “30 Days of Thanksgiving” poster on which worship ministry members can write a 2 or 3 word expression of things they're thankful for.
  3. Begin singing and playing through large portions of your Christmas music without stopping. Everyone will begin to get a good feel for the flow of your presentation. But rehearse soloists and narrators separate from the choir so you can work out “kinks” and not lose valuable choir rehearsal time.
  4. Initiate your promotion for Christmas presentations both within your congregation and in the community.

As you contemplate and pray about your upcoming Christmas events, I hope you'll give some prayerful consideration to how your efforts might impact the world around you through an eternal message. "Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act." (Proverbs 3:27)
