I simply cannot comprehend standing in the physical presence of God. Certainly we experience the presence of His Holy Spirit in worship, but try to imagine what it will be like one day to stand in His presence face-to-face. What a day that will be!
Consider these passages from the book of Psalms:
The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth. ~ Psalm 97: 5
The earth shook; the heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God; Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel. ~ Psalm 68: 8
Songs of praise inspired by the Psalms carry this same awe into our worship today, inviting us to lift our voices in wonder at the majesty and nearness of our God. May every chorus we sing echo the psalmists’ cry, drawing our hearts closer to the day when we will stand in His glorious presence forever.
As we sing these songs week after week, our spirits are trained to recognize the power of God’s presence even now. The same God who caused mountains to melt and the earth to tremble is the One who draws near when we gather in His name. Let every melody we raise become both a rehearsal for eternity and a declaration that our Savior’s love is marvelous beyond words—until the day we finally see Him face to face.
May you have a wonderful week of personal worship in His presence!
